MERLIN AND ARTHUR
Are you interested in knights, adventure, magic, and the battle between right and wrong? These are the elements of the Arthurian saga, the story of King Arthur and his Round Table. The Young Merlin series by T.A. Barron is gaining popularity in the fourth grade--it's the story of the Merlin the Magician, King Arthur's tutor, before he discovered his powers and went on to guide one of the most famous (legendary?) kings of England. The entire Arthurian saga--from Arthur's ascent to ruler to his creation of the Round Table to his ultimate downfall--is filled with adventures and twists, and many writers have tackled the topic in many different ways.
Have you read any books you can recommend on these or related topics? If you are reading the Young Merlin series, why do you enjoy it, and to whom would you recommend it? Can you think of other legendary stories that make exciting reading hundreds of years after they were told and written down?
